Blog Post 12/03/2012

If my Capstone project were to be a documentary, it would involve an abundant amount of information with transitions of the pathway I took to complete my project. Initially, I would introduce my topic of dehydration to the targeted audience. By doing this, the viewers will have a vivid idea of what my presentation is about. I will gradually sequence the order that my project was completing, including feedback and instructor interviews. My documentary will be organized and easily understood.

Volunteering Experience

Special Olympics: Special Olympics is one of the nation's largest organizations created in order to allow individuals of all ages with mental and physical disabilities to compete with one another. I participated in two events, ice skating and volleyball, in order to benefit the competition experience of the participants and myself. I lend a hand to the staff by putting up direction signs, setting up tables, handing out medals, and cheering on the athletes. Through this experience, I was able to get an understanding of the daily hardships faced by those who are impaired, urging myself to assist these individuals in the future.

Hope's Door: Hope's Door is a domestic violence and counseling shelter designed to assist those exposed to violence in a home environment. I was able to take care of the children of women during counseling, aid individuals in the temporary home, and put together/give away donation items. Through this experience, I was inspired to help others in a different aspect.

Cancer Fundraising Walks/Events: In order to raise awareness and money for a positive, health-related cause, organizations and foundations put together entertaining events to serve these purposes and reach a desired goal. Personally, I have participated in Relay for Life, Making Strides for Breast Cancer, and Alzheimer's Walk

Shadowing at H&S Pharmacy: To prepare myself for my potential profession in the field of Pharmacy, I chose to volunteer for an independent-branch pharmacy to get a feel of the environment and work-schedule. I was able to get a vision of my future job while assisting with the organization process of the medications.

Gaming Video

The gaming video consisted of both good and bad qualities. Personally, I believe that the film flowed very well and was easy to understand. I was able to comprehend the point of the video completely. On the other hand, it didn't grasp my full attention. It seemed boring at some parts during the film.
